普通干燥器通常用變色硅膠或無水氯化鈣作干燥劑，干燥樣品所費時間較長，干燥效率不高，一般適用于保存易吸潮藥品。干燥器是磨口的，并涂有一層很薄的凡士林以防止水氣進入，開啟或關閉干燥機時，應用左手朝里（或朝外）按住干燥器下部，用右手握蓋上的圓頂反方向平推器蓋。搬動干燥器，不應只捧著下部，而應同時用拇指按住蓋子，以防蓋子滑落。
真空恒溫干燥器也稱干燥槍，其干燥效率較高，適用于除去結晶水或結晶醇。但這種方法只能適用于小量樣品的干燥，如果干燥化合物數量多，可采用真空恒溫干燥箱。使用干燥槍時，先將裝有樣品的小瓷舟放入夾層內，連接盛有干燥劑（一般常用五氧化二磷）的曲頸瓶，然后用水泵減壓，抽到一定真空度時，將活塞關閉，停止抽氣。根據被干燥化合物的物質，選用適當的溶劑進行加熱（溶劑的沸點切勿超過樣品的熔點），溶劑蒸氣充滿夾層外面，而使夾層內樣品在減壓和恒定的溫度下進行干燥。整個過程中，每隔一定時間應再抽一次氣，以保持一定的真空度。（圖/文www.pashiganzaoji.com）
